So, the thing with making your own hummus is that it doesn't always end up being as cost effective as I would like - enter: Tahini-less Hummus! It tastes the same and costs way less!
3 cups chickpeas (cooked)
2-4 Tbsp water (as needed to get desired consistency)
4 Tbsp olive oil
5 Tbsp lemon juice
2 cloves or 2 tsp minced garlic
1 ½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp salt
Blend all together in a food processor, adding water slowly until you get the desired consistency.
You can also add in extras for flavouring; my fav choices are pumpkin, kumera (sweet potato) or beetroot.
Makes a large batch. Refrigerate. Keeps for about a week.
