To stop stuff ending up out on the curb in the rain, or in the tip - that old sofa that you don't want can now be given away easily thanks to the wonderful world of the internet.
Our mission is to build a worldwide sharing movement that reduces waste, saves precious resources & eases the burden on our landfills while enabling our members to benefit from the strength of a larger community.

It obviously depends on the community but I know that a lot of the ones in Christchurch are very welcoming, generous and helpful! A great way to share anything that you have to give away or if you are after anything in particular that someone might have. Just the other day I scored a load of raspberry plants!
Freegan New Zealand
Share hauls, general information, free/swap listings, tips, spots, legality issues, gardening tips, urban foraging maps, things other than food wanted or to give away. Questions and criticisms are totally welcome, just please be respectful. :) There are no other groups like this for New Zealand so hopefully this can provide some sense of community for other dumpster divers/self sufficient people, or at least spread awareness of the disgusting amount of food waste!!
Freebies - Chch-
Christchurch only free page to request or offer goods. No sales.
